Aiming for centralised admin
with mini-satellite outreach
I
agree with most of Andy Myatt's comments whilst noting that public sector
remuneration is mainly set nationally.
Herefordshire's population is spread far and wide so costs of serving
it are greater than more urban groupings. Herefordshire Council, The Primary
Care Trust (now named NHSH for National Health Service Herefordshire)
and The Hereford Hospital Trust are linking several of their services
in attempt to improve efficiency and buying power.
The aim is also to centralise back office staff where possible and to
create small satellite locality-based front counter offices throughout
the county. As the hoped-for regeneration of the Oval takes place, I look
forward to seeing police, housing officers and social workers caring for
Belmont from a common base, improved front counter access and a tighter
control on budgets.
